Advantages for Green Development

The future is green. As society has become increasingly environmentally conscious, so to has the demand for higher standards in building development risen. Automated parking meets this demand in a number of ways. The U.S. Green Building Council has developed a green rating system for construction projects known as the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). Selecting an automated parking system from areaCo has the following LEED benefits:

Conserves Open Space

  • Reduces the amount of open space consumed by parking

Reduced Building Footprint

  • Higher efficiency parking reduces building areas required. Depending on configuration and height, automated parking systems can have compact footprints or can be placed underground more efficiently than traditional parking.

Reduces Storm Water Runoff

  • Reduces surface parking and impervious parking lot surfaces allowing for more direct storm water absorption and opportunities to create bio-swales and cisterns for water collections

Green City

Reduce C02 and Other Vehicle Emissions

  • Vehicles are turned off when they are being parked preventing emissions from vehicles while searching for a parking space

Reduced Energy Consumption

  • Reduces electrical load used to light and ventilate a traditional parking garage and reduces the amount of gasoline used by vehicles since they aren't operating while vehicles are being places in their parking stall. Energy consumption is greatly reduced when you consider the carbon footprint required to produce the electricity and gasoline used within traditional parking structures.

Light and Noise Pollution are Eliminated

  • Vehicles do not run while parking, reducing engine and road noise. Lighting requirements are reduced or in some cases not required limiting light transmission at night.

Increased Potential Project Density and Parking Density

  • Makes higher-density project possible by increasing parking density and reducing parking footprint. Opens smaller lots to high-density development by utilizing automated parking's ability to provide a compact footprint.
